The Theory of Everything, A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Baby Universes – all these lead to a single name, Stephen Hawking, which is a brand in the era of Modern Physics.
Stephen William Hawking is a renowned British theoretical Physicist, mathematician, astronomer, cosmologist.
He was born on 8th January 1942 in Oxford, England. He is the author of several books including the Best-selling novel A Brief History of Time.
His sudden demise has left the world in a scatter of shock. He died peacefully at the age of 76, in his home in Cambridge, England, on the morning of 14th March, 2018.
The absolute reason behind his death has not been revealed by his family. Hawking was married twice.
He married Jane Wilde formerly during his graduation years and later on Elaine Mason, who was his nurse and attendant. He left behind three children Lucy, Robert, Tim and three grandchildren.
Hawking was diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease at the age of 22. He suffered from ALS(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a neurodegenerative disease, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
This disease was fatal and left him paralyzed, completely dependant on others and technology. He was wheelchair-bound and had to use voice-speech synthesizer to communicate for his entire life.
All these barriers couldn’t cause hindrance to his scientific works. Stephen Hawking was one of the greatest living scientists, Physics genius.
His research-works ranged diversely from general Relativity, Quantum gravity, Black Holes, Thermodynamical theories to Big Bang Theory, time and space.
Hawkins firmly believed that in the near future mankind will embark its legacy and learn to live in space. He had atleast 12 honorary degrees along with different prestigious awards.
Hawking was the Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge.
He was an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Socirty of Arts(FRSA). He was most famous for his scientific work on the Black holes and Big Bang Theory.
Black holes are the never ending void regions in space with very strong gravitation field, from which no matter, even light can escape.
Hawking was popular for his theories regarding Black holes, Quarks. He published worldwide popular books about space, time and universe.
According to him, space & time would begin with the Big Bang and end in Black holes. He discovered that Black holes aren’t totally black, it can emit radiation, which is also called Hawking radiation.
