Someone very aptly said, that to be knowledgeable, one needs to travel. Travelling not only gives you a much desired break from hectic mad schedules of our daily lives, but it also rejuvenates and recharges us to combat work stress and other personal challenges.
Seeing new places and environments enhances the panoramic view of our minds. New places, new people, new languages and breath taking sights, surely is a treat to any individual’s person.
A trek in the mighty snow capped mountains, or a dive date with the marine life, one needs to keep certain essential things in the mind while travelling. We would be catering to a little checklist which might be helpful for both men and women during a travel.
1. CLOTHING ESSENTIALS
Well its totally an individual choice as to what to pack when it comes to clothing, but sometimes we go too casual while packing for a holiday that in case a party or something semi formal comes we are clueless. It is absolutely essential for both men and women to carry a black shirt or a black t shirt.
It saves you from embarrassment when a certain party or a dinner at somebody’s place comes up. A black shirt not only is a timeless classic, it makes you look ever ready and also gives that slimming effect we all die for.
A stole or a scarf is must to protect you from the harmful rays of sun and in the evenings it can just be made up into a style statement.
2. GADGETS AND OTHER ESSENTIALS
Being born in the smart phone generation we need to be updated and connected all the time. Our life seems incomplete without posting our happening holiday pics on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We all need our phones for sure, along with that headphones for important conversations or sometimes a me time with some melodious music to treat yourself.
To make all this running , one must have a charger and a battery pack in case there are no charging points nearby and you get stranded. Make sure that your battery packs are always charged. For the ones who are obsessed with internet speeds can also carry a wi-fi dongle along to be internet assured.
3. GROOMING ESSENTIALS
While exploring new destinations, the one thing we miss the most is our vanity, both men and women and the comfort of our own showers. Well, in this pacing world where everybody wants to look prim and proper, looking smashing even while travelling is super essential.
Afterall, all those pics are going to be on social media. Cant afford to look unkept or dull. So here are some grooming essentials one must carry while travelling without any gender biasness. The only thing one must keep in mind are that you should always buy travel size packs for all the below given essentials for obvious reasons.
A mini sized face wash is a must for both 62men and women to carry in their grooming kit. With various places to travel and unknown weathers the skin tends to attract lot of dust. Regular washing of the face is essential to avoid breakouts on the skin.
Its no rocket science to understand that face washes keep your skin clean and fresh. Try an organic or a natural smelling facewash for a better feel.
It becomes absolutely essential to keep your skin moisturised if you are in a coastal area or in a mountain region. A coastal region being humid would require a moisturiser which is light on the skin and less sticky, preferably something with an aloe vera in it or any gel based moisturiser.
For the cold climates a heavy cream which doesn’t leave you dry is super essential. This also includes a good body moisturiser as the body tends to get dry and uncomfortable.
A sunscreen is again a must have irrespective of the weather conditions you are in. For the Indian or tropical climates specially an SPF 30 to SPF 50 is required.
One should also make sure while on beaches that the sunscreen should have a UVA and UVB protection as well. A non greasy, non sticky gel based sunscreen is ideal for summers.
4. PERFUMES/ DEODRANTS/ TALCS
Its so important to smell good all the time. Perfumes or deodorants are a must in a travel pack, as travelling a lot specially in hot and humid conditions may nurture bacteria growth and lead to a smelly body.
In case you are not the perfume or deodorants type you may choose to travel with a fragrant talcum powder which keeps the sweat and bad odour away.
5. MAKE UP ESSENTIALS FOR WOMEN
Specially for women, carrying a little make up is ardently essential again. However heavy foundations while might get uncomfortable during travelling, still its a personal choice if you travelling. After all, a flawless face is all what we look forward too.
A translucent powder or compact again comes handy in case you are travelling in hot and humid weathers, it keeps your skin matte and does not allow oils to shine on your face. A lip balm in your kit will ensure you don’t have chapped lips.
A nude lipstick for the day and a dark lipstick for the night or a party or for a dinner is again a great idea to keep with you. A kajal or a kohl pencil come handy for people who look dead or ill out without a kajal. For those who can do without them can opt for a mascara to make your eyes look more awake and bigger.
6. PERSONAL HYGEINE ESSENTIALS
For women usually its important to be equipped for your periods, so you should carry your sanitary pads always with you. A nail clipper and a pair of scissors are also essential for both men and women. A mini shaving kit for men is an obvious thing.
A toilet roll and a toilet seat sanitizer is also a must have while using public toilets, which mostly in India are not so clean. Its not always feasible to access water all the times when you need to clean up your hands or face.
So for those crunch times having wet wipes are a saviour, facial wipes can also be used to clean make up as well if any, give a clean and refreshing feel. Wet wipes by Kara are great when it comes to wet wipes. Hand sanitizer again required to keep germs away.
8. MEDICAL ESSENTIALS
One must always carry some basic medication as prescribed by the doctor for common illness. Like motion sickness, headaches or fever. You should also carry a pouch of hydrating powder like an ORS which is super handy in case of dehydration.
A couple of band aids should also be there with you while travelling. Hope this little checklist comes handy when you backpacking next. Happy travelling.
